How much Does a Will Cost In Pennsylvania? We Can Give You Some Insight.

As consumers of products we are naturally interested in how much things cost. Prospective clients ask, “How much does a will cost in

Douglas L. Kaune, Esq.

Pennsylvania?” The answer is, “It depends.” There is no way to properly answer the question without knowing more about the client and the things he or she wants or needs to accomplish. Unfortunately, one size does not fit all when it comes to planning for your estate and for your family. That is why we provide a free comprehensive PA estate planning questionnaire to clients before they come to the office. We ask that they fill out the estate planning questionnaire in advance of our first meeting so that we can review it together in detail.

The estate planning questionnaire requests both basic contact information and important financial information.  A completed questionnaire is a must have for the first meeting.  It allows the attorney to properly advise you on the tax considerations, the proper beneficiary designations and documents structure and proper trust planning.  The document is also intended to get the client thinking about the estate planning issues to be discussed at the time of the first meeting.

At the first meeting, we determine the things that are most important to the client in creating a will, trust, power of attorney and other related documents. We then explain the legal, medicaid, elder law and tax issues to the client and provide them with several planning options. We also tell the client a FLAT FEE for each of the options so that the client will know the cost BEFORE they decide on how to proceed. Our initial estate planning conferences are at no risk to the client and they can choose to do nothing and pay nothing. Clients appreciate having the ability to choose how much they are willing to pay based on the things they think are most important to incorporate into their wills and trusts.

It is so difficult do provide an accurate fee over the phone and before meeting.  We have clients who not only have very different needs, but also very different goals and points of view.  We might have two clients with the same asset value who choose very different approaches to their plans.  As a result, their legal fees might vary significantly.  The good news is that they will know exactly what the fee will be before they choose what plan is best for them.

I suggest taking a look at this informative video provided by David M. Frees, III, Esquire on PA Estate Planners.com for additional fee structure information.
